3 Dental New Year’s Resolutions You Should Keep

It’s no secret that we’re all guilty of making resolutions for the new year that we don’t stick to. However, there are a three resolutions we think are easy to keep up with AND great for the overall health of your mouth and body!

1. Brush and Floss Regularly

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes helps remove built-up plaque and bacteria. Flossing is also a great way to keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape. While brushing and flossing may not be your favorite activity, they are necessary and crucial parts of keeping your mouth healthy and your teeth strong. Making a commitment to your oral hygiene is a new year’s resolution you won’t regret.

2. Incorporate Nutritious Food Into Your Diet

We’ve all heard the saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away,” and there’s definitely some truth to it. Choosing foods full of vitamins and nutrients will help strengthen your teeth and gums and avoid potentially serious and costly dental problems in the future. Foods with calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, and vitamins, are great for nourishing a healthy mouth. By avoiding processed foods and excess amounts of sugar this new year, your teeth and body will thank you.

3. Visit the Dentist at Least Twice a Year

We understand most people don’t enjoy visiting the dentist. But we guarantee the benefits of getting a routine exam and cleaning every six months significantly outweigh the dread of going to the dentist. Regular cleanings keep your smile shiny and youthful while the exams give us a chance to catch and address any potential dental issues you have before they worsen. Visiting the dentist at least twice this new year will allow your oral health to prosper.
